The piece is written using a doubling technique which is also used heavily in pop music post-production. It adds two or more takes of the same vocal part on top of each other thereby creating a rich and nuanced vocal line. Using this approach, I firstly designed a virtual instrument which would mimic and resemble the sounds of harpsichord. Then, the parts for the harpsichord and the virtual instrument were written in such a way, that the voices would intertwine and combine into one contrapuntal line. In addition, the shadow – virtual harpsichord – is being constantly detuned, creating various sonic artefacts by its ever changing relationship with the harpsichord.
