The work draws on the symbolism of snakes and serpents — creatures of shedding, renewal, and entanglement. Rendered in glowing red neon, the two entwined figures are named after Geryon and Herakles — the central characters of Anne Carson’s Autobiography of Red, in which she retells the Greek myth as a tender, volatile love affair between a winged red monster and the man destined to kill him.
