The work is based on research into the symbolism of snakes and serpents, traditionally viewed as protectors of homes and symbols of renewal. Through the glowing red tubes, they are re-imagined as the two main characters from Anne Carson’s The Autobiography of Red, which itself is based on the lesser-known mythological relationship between Geryon and Herakles.
